The biblical role of Deacon (see Acts 6:1-7) is one of service and care for God's people, working alongside the Elders of the church, as they devote themselves to the ministry of Word and Prayer. In the PCA, the role of Deacon is an ordained role, as these officers are nominated by members of the congregation, undergo biblical/theological training and testing, are thoroughly interviewed and approved by the Elders, and then voted on by the congregation. At CPC Wheaton, we take seriously the Deacon qualifications that we find in 1 Timothy 3:8-12.
Deacons at CPC Wheaton care for the people of the church, the physical property of the church, and have a hand in overseeing church finances and distributions as well. We are grateful for a team of godly, caring, wise, generous, and gifted men who serve our church - and for their godly and gifted wives as well.
